About Barbara Roe Hebb
Barbara has been working with fibre and textiles since early childhood on the lands of the Yorta Yorta People. Her mother and sister taught her garment construction, with her aunt introducing weaving and spinning. She enjoys exploring how fibre can be used in unusual ways; repurposing and upcycling as she creates her work.
On the lands of the Wadawurrung Peoples, she has held the office of secretary with Geelong Sculptors Inc, and participated in exhibitions, both solo and group. The ongoing impact of colonization for First Nation Peoples and the need to pay attention to our environment can be seen in her work in recent years, as she focusses full time on her creative practice. Barbara's mediums: Weaving-Tapestry and floor loom. Basketry- plant, natural/manmade fibers. Spinning and dying. Textile/fabric sculpture & wearable art. Barb's Fandangles
