Eastern Ground Parrot - small fibre art sculpture

Picture
Eastern Ground Parrot
Pezoporus wallicus
Status - Endangered
The sweeping grassy heathlands of the Surfcoast once played host to the Eastern Ground Parrot. Specialised in taking advantage of the high diversity of low growing plants, the Ground Parrot relied on indigenous burning practices to create a variety of habitats. Slowly, as the grass grew long and stale and the predators it shared its home with changed, the ground parrot has all but vanished - for now.

This original artwork is created on a wire frame, covered with a mix of fabric scraps and plant fibres for the tail feathers and wings.
Size: 35cm x 15cm x 10cm
This artwork is currently available through Eagles Nest Gallery, Aireys Inlet
