Basket Design Course Saturdays 14th August - 18th Sept 2021
A contemporary approach to the ancient craft of basket weaving. This course commences with learning the technique of ‘twining’; a traditional basket weaving method, which has the beauty of adaptability into a wide range of sturdy baskets to soft bags, wall hangings or sculptural forms. Creative expression will be encouraged as students develop this foundational skill into their own designs. Experiment with different plant fibres, recycled materials, raffia or hemp string, learning how to ‘twine’ a tight weave or a lace effect. We will start with two small projects before launching into individual designs.
