Spotted Pardalote - small fibre art sculpture

Picture
Spotted Pardalote
Pardalotus punctatus
Status – Secure
What a surprise to realise that the small hole in the earth bank is in fact nothing to do with burrowing animals but is the entrance to a Pardalote’s nest. This tiny bird is fascinating to watch, flitting up and down between the eucalyptus canopy and the nest, gathering bark strips and soft materials for lining ready for the eggs.
This original artwork is created on a wire frame, wrapped with a mix of fabric scraps and wool.
Size: 12cm x 10cm x 6cm
